jambands.com -- Last night a local Bay Area hero, Tea Leaf Green’s Trevor Garrod, gave his nod of approval to a pair of rising San Francisco stars. The Tea Leaf Green keyboardist played a nearly five hour gig at San Francisco’s Giordano Bros. as part of guitarists Kiyoshi Foster and Sean Leahy’s weekly residency at the club. In addition, the evening’s lineup featured London Street drummer Daria Johnson and guest vocalists Justine Bennett and Brod Rob. The performance featured a range of material, including Garrod’s “I’ve Gotta Truck,” “Ships,” “Oreste”, “Middle Son” and “Don't Depend On Them.” The group also ran through an eclectic mix of covers, such as Pink Floyd's “Breathe,” John Prine's “Angel from Montgomery” and “Tom Petty's “Breakdown.” At the start of the second set, Foster moved behind Garrod’s keyboard for his own “Down and Out in San Francisco” and an extended version of “Everything I Am,” while Garrod showed off his bass skills.

QUINCY, CALIF. -- This July Kiyoshi was up in Quincy, CA, participating in (and enjoying) the High Sierra Music Festival. The fine people who organize this event didn't explicitly invite Kiyoshi to play. Several performers who were invited, and who know and appreciate Kiyoshi's unique talent, asked him to join their various performances. Among the events in which Kiyoshi participated was Guitarmeggedon, which featured a stellar line-up of national and international guitarists, including Sean Leahy, Josh Clark of Tea Leaf Green, Dan Lebowitz of ALO animal liberation orchestra, Jon 'the Barber' Gutwillig of the disco biscuits, Eric McFadden, and Jeff Pevar. Kiyoshi being featured as the up-and-coming artist.

OAKLAND, CALIF. -- Kiyoshi can't keep away from the recording studio. He's recently laid down a few new tracks for his next release. The studio is impressed with what they've been hearing, and they are featuring a couple of these tracks ("Angel on the Farm" and "Washington Square") on their Myspace page.
